Storage calculator

Storage Unit Volume Calculator

Convert unit dimensions into cubic feet, cubic metres and usable capacity.

Calculate unit capacity

Conversions, presets and imports retain reference precision. Manually edited numbers use the normalised value shown. Unit preference is saved in this browser.

Calculated plans stay in this browser for up to 30 days. No calculator values are sent to the server.

Assumptions used

Nominal volume = internal length × width × height; usable volume = nominal volume × efficiency. Presets use nominal floor dimensions and exact 8 ft height, displayed 8 ft / 2.44 m. Efficiency presets: easy access 60%, dense packing 80%; default 70%. Floor area is length × width.

How this calculator works

Measure usable interior dimensions when possible, since nominal unit names may include space you cannot fill. Tall furniture and irregular items leave gaps; an access aisle uses capacity too. Use the usable figure as a planning allowance and confirm whether the inventory can actually stack within the height.

How to use this estimate

Storage estimates depend on ceiling height, how efficiently items stack and whether you need an access aisle.

What can change the result

Measurements, provider specifications, packing style and local access conditions can all change the answer. Use the result as a planning range, then verify the actual vehicle, unit, product dimensions or supplier rules before you book or buy.

Planning note: Do not use this calculator as a substitute for payload limits, lifting guidance, building rules or professional quotations.
