Planning calculator

Movers Needed Calculator

Estimate a practical crew size for a target handling window.

Estimate crew size

Conversions, presets and imports retain reference precision. Manually edited numbers use the normalised value shown. Unit preference is saved in this browser.

Use half-hour increments (2, 2.5, 3…). Other values are rejected.

Calculated plans stay in this browser for up to 30 days. No calculator values are sent to the server.

Assumptions used

Baseline workload = m³ × 0.24 + heavy items × 0.18 + stair flights × 0.45. Crew = ceil(workload × 2 ÷ target hours), minimum 2 for positive workload; zero workload gives 0. Above 6, display 6+. Target hours use 0.5-hour increments, starting at 2; invalid increments are rejected.

How this calculator works

Use the target window for loading and unloading rather than the whole journey. A shorter window generally requires more people, but a cramped staircase can prevent extra helpers from working effectively. Treat a 6+ result or specialist-heavy inventory as a prompt for a professional assessment.

How to use this estimate

Time and crew calculators are scheduling aids, not promises. Access, parking, stairs, lift availability and very heavy items can dominate the result.

What can change the result

Measurements, provider specifications, packing style and local access conditions can all change the answer. Use the result as a planning range, then verify the actual vehicle, unit, product dimensions or supplier rules before you book or buy.

Planning note: Do not use this calculator as a substitute for payload limits, lifting guidance, building rules or professional quotations.
